The Athenians had a well developed social construct of what children were and how they differ from the adults and the old people. Parents at that age believed that their children are pure, clean, unformed and gullible.
However like any other parents ever existed in this world, they also belived that children are like plastic and shapable.
Children being shaped into the parents' ideal picture of the perfect adult... and little by little the child losses their innocence.....
I have been through it...and will I be doing the same to my child?
Only fate knows.....
